HL Deb 08 June 1932 vol 84 cc682-4
LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

May I ask the noble Viscount if he can state what will be the business tomorrow?

VISCOUNT HAILSHAM

We are taking to-morrow the Committee stage of the Children and Young Persons Bill. A considerable number of Amendments have already been put down to that Bill. Some of them, I think, ought not to take long, and I hope we may be able to dispose of the Committee stage to-morrow afternoon. I should be sorry if that did not happen, because there is a good deal of business before your Lordships next week and it is not a very convenient week for all of your Lordships to be in London. If we can dispose of the Committee stage, and give adequate consideration of the Amendments to-morrow, I think it would be for the general convenience. If, unfortunately, that should prove to be impracticable, I think we might meet on Monday to continue the Committee stage of the Bill.

LORD PONSONBY OF SHULBREDE

Would it be possible to start the sitting at an earlier hour to-morrow?

VISCOUNT HAILSHAM

I am obliged to the noble Lord for his suggestion, but I am afraid that judicial business renders that impossible.

House adjourned at ten minutes past six o'clock.
