HL Deb 07 July 1932 vol 85 c695

Clause 53, page 25, line 13, leave out ("confined in prison") and insert ("a prisoner in any prison").

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

The third Amendment is rather a curious one. Clause 53 reads thus: No solicitor whilst confined in prison shall act as a solicitor. A lynx-eyed member of the House of Commons, quite rightly, saw that the old Act instead of saying, "No solicitor whilst confined in prison" read: "No solicitor whilst a prisoner in any prison." We have no objection to sticking to the words of the old Act. I move that we agree with that Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
