HL Deb 06 December 1932 vol 86 cc248-50
THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF ONSLOW)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion which stands in my name.

Moved, That a Committee of five Lords be appointed to join with a Committee of the House of Commons to consider and report whether, as one of the methods of giving effect to the basic price system of charge by gas undertakers in those cases in which a power to make a differential charge in respect of any part of the existing or intended limits of supply is proposed to be continued or granted, it is expedient to authorise a separate basic price in respect of each such part, arrived at by adding to the basic price fixed in respect of the area for which no differential charge is proposed a sum representing the differential change as proposed to be authorised or continued, or as actually made.

That the Lords following be named of the Committee

That such Committee have power to agree with the Committee of the House of Commons in the appointment of a Chairman.—(The Earl of Onslow.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

Leave given to the Joint Committee to hear parties interested, by themselves, their counsel, agents and witnesses, so far as the Committee think fit.

Then a Message was ordered to be sent to the House of Commons to acquaint them therewith, and to request them to appoint five members of that House to be joined with the said Committee.

House adjourned at ten minutes after seven o'clock.
