HL Deb 21 May 1931 vol 80 cc1362-4
LORD PARMOOR

My Lords, in moving the adjournment of the House I should like to make a short statement. The House will have to resume at noon on Friday, June 5, but only formal business will then be taken. The noble Lord, Lord Marley, and the noble Earl, Lord Lucan, will make proper provision that there is a House for this formal business, but none of your Lordships need be troubled in any way to come up from your holiday on that day. The ordinary business will begin again on Tuesday, June 9. I am sorry that I could not be present in your Lordships' House the other clay to move the Bill dealing with the two Conventions on safety of life at sea and the load line. That will be the first business on Tuesday, June 9. I hope I shall be able to persuade your Lordships, if we obtain a Second Read- ing, to give facilities for bringing on the Committee and Report stages of the Bill at an early date, because one Convention has to be ratified before July if possible. I beg to move that the House do now adjourn.

Moved accordingly, and on Question, Motion agreed to.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before five o'clock till Friday, June 5, twelve noon.
