THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF ONSLOW)

My Lords, in reference to the Notice on the Paper dealing with the Grand Union Canal, I beg to move the Motion which stands in my name.

Moved, That the order made on the 10th of March last, "That this House will not receive any Petition for a Private Bill later than Tuesday the 5th of May next," be dispensed with, and that leave be given to the Grand Union Canal Company to present a Petition for leave to introduce a Bill "to provide for the transfer to the Grand Union Canal Company of the undertakings of the company of proprietors of the Leicester Navigation the company of proprietors of the navigation from the River Trent to the Town of Loughborough and the company of proprietors of the Erewash Canal in the Counties of Derby and Nottingham; to authorise the Grand Union Canal Company to execute works; and for other purposes."—(The Earl of Onslow.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

The said Petition, together with a copy of the proposed Bill annexed thereto, read and referred to the Examiners.
