HL Deb 04 March 1931 vol 80 cc265-6
THE MARQUESS OF LONDONDERRY

My Lords, I should like to ask the noble Lord who is leading the House if he can give us any information as to the Committee Stage of the Agricultural Land (Utilisation) Bill.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (LORD PASSFIELD)

My Lords, in reply to the noble Marquess I understand that it is the wish of noble Lords that the Committee stage of the Bill should be put off from Thursday, March 19, till Tuesday, March 24. I am very glad indeed to fall in with the wishes that have been expressed.

EARL BEAUCHAMP

My Lords, it would be for the convenience of your Lordships if it was announced that there was to be an after-dinner sitting. If there are to be many Amendments put down and if it was generally known that we were to have an after-dinner sitting, it would be to the convenience of everybody.

LORD PASSFIELD

My Lords, may I suggest that Wednesday, March 25, is available if the Tuesday does not give sufficient time to deal with the Amendments. If it is for the convenience of your Lordships you can arrange to sit after dinner on the Tuesday, but had we not better wait until we get a little nearer to the time? I am in your Lordships' hands, but I think we had better wait for the moment before saying anything definite about an after-dinner sitting, as the Wednesday is available as well as the Tuesday.

House adjourned at twenty-two minutes past five o'clock.
