Clause 1, page 1, line 14, leave out ("twenty pounds") and insert ("five pounds in the case of a first offence, or twenty pounds in the case of a second or subsequent offence.")

Clause 1, page 1, line 20, at end insert ("but it shall be a good defence for a person charged with such an offence to prove that the bull was not bred by him, that he took all reasonable steps to ascertain the age of the bull, and that he had reason to believe that the bull—

  1. "(a) had not attained the prescribed age at the time when the offence was alleged to have been committed; or
  2. "(b) had attained that age before the appointed day.")

Clause 1, page 1, line 23, leave out ("under his control") and insert ("custody")
