HL Deb 28 October 1930 vol 79 cc41-2
LORD PARMOOR

My Lords, there are no Motions, I understand, upon the Paper this week. There will be nothing until Wednesday in next week. We know that at the beginning of a Session our work is generally light. I may tell your Lordships that in accordance with my view of the power and dignity of this House there will be a series of Bills—I am afraid not very important ones—which will be brought before your Lordships before Christmas as well, I hope, as some major Bills that will he sent to us from the other place before that date. In those circumstances is it worth while in your Lordships' opinion that we should meet again this week?

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

My Lords, as far as noble Lords sitting on this side of the House are concerned, I am sure they would be quite content to assent to the suggestion which I understand the noble and learned Lord makes, that we should not meet again this week. Does the noble and learned Lord propose to adjourn to this day week?

LORD PARMOOR

We have Motions down on Wednesday and Thursday of next week, but nothing before. I think if we adjourn to Wednesday of next week, that will be best.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

Very good.

House adjourned at ten minutes before seven o' clock.
