HL Deb 29 May 1930 vol 77 c1182

Page 3, line 12, leave out ("volition") and insert ("expressing himself as willing or unwilling to continue to receive treatment").

EARL RUSSELL

My Lords, this Amendment is one to which I ought to call the attention of the House. We had some discussion here about the meaning of the word "volition" and it is now suggested by the other House to leave out "volition" and insert "expressing himself as willing or unwilling to continue to receive treatment." Those are words much easier to understand and much easier to construe, and I think your Lordships will approve of them. I beg to move that they be agreed to.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Russell.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
