§ THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURYMy Lords, I am not aware whether the noble and learned Lord the Leader of the House has taken into consideration the circumstances of to-morrow. As your Lordships are aware, a ceremony of deep interest to many of us will take place in Westminster Abbey to-morrow at half-past five, and it may be a little difficult without some re-arrangement to finish your Lordships' business to-morrow afternoon in time to enable those of us who are disposed to attend that ceremony to avail ourselves of the opportunity.
§ THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR)My Lords. I quite appreciate what the noble Marquess has said. No doubt there will be many members of your Lordships' House who will wish to be present at the ceremony in the Abbey to-morrow at half-past five. We could meet to-morrow at half-past three, if that will meet your Lordships' convenience. There is an Appeal Committee to-morrow, but the judicial business will be over before that hour, since the Appeal Committee meets at three o'clock. Perhaps, therefore, I may now give notice to the House that we shall meet to-morrow at half-past three. That will give us the best opportunity of getting through our work before the ceremony in the Abbey.
§ THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURYI understand that the consideration of the Commons Amendments to the Mental Treatment Bill is not likely to take very long, and therefore there will practically be only a small Second Reading and two Motions. I imagine that, if we meet at half-past three, that will be early enough.
§ LORD PARMOORI have not sufficient knowledge on that point, but at any rate it is the best that we can do.
