§ LORD PARMOORMy Lords, before the House adjourns it might be convenient—I see the noble Marquess, Lord Salisbury, is in his place—if I remind you that we intend to start the Committer, stage of the Coal Mines Bill next Tuesday, and that we propose to continue de die in diem. Except where private interests intervene, we shall go on from day to day until the discussion is finished. I think also, unless representations to the contrary are made to me, that it would be convenient to sit after dinner at any rate on Tuesday. What will be the best course to take after that is a matter which we shall have to leave for consideration when we see what progress is made.
§ THE MARQUESS or SALISBURYMy Lords, the noble and learned Lord will of course recollect that at the instance of His Majesty's Government the Committee stage of the Land Drainage Bill stands on the Paper for Thursday of next week.
§ LORD PARMOORThat will be postponed if the Coal Mines Bill is not finished.
§ THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURYThere may be many reasons why the Land Drainage Bill should be postponed in any event. At any rate I offer no opposition to the suggestion of the noble and learned Lord.
§ House adjourned at a quarter before six o'clock.
