§ Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Fifth Report of the Select Committee.
§ The Committee reported as follows:—
§ 1. PRINCIPAL DOORKEEPER.
§ The attention of the Committee having been called to an application by Mr. C. W. Maidment, principal doorkeeper, in respect of his age on retirement, it was decided that the age shown by his birth certificate should be accepted as the age applicable to the date of his retirement.
§ 2. HOUSEKEEPER.
§ The Committee approved a payment of £40 in respect of furniture for the housekeeper's rooms.
§ 3. JUDICIAL OFFICE.
§ The Committee sanctioned the continuation to Mr. V. M. R. Goodman, M.C., Clerk in the Judicial Office of a special allowance of £100 per annum, as from the 6th of March, 1930, consequent on the appointment of the present holder to the office of Clerk Assistant.
§ 4. REFRESHMENT DEPARTMENT.
§ The Committee approved the following recommendations submitted by the subcommittee on the Refreshment Department:—
- (i) That the contract with the present contractor should be renewed at the existing rate of subsidy;
- (ii) That a circular should be issued to Peers, as on previous occasions, in connection with the maintenance of the Department.
§ 5. CLERK OF THE PARLIAMENTS AND CLERK ASSISTANT.
§ A sub-committee was appointed to consider recommendations of the House of Lords Offices Committee of the 4th August, 1921, and to report thereon.
§ 6. ESTIMATES.
§ The Estimates for the House of Lords Offices for the year ending 31st March, 1931, were laid before the Committee and approved.
