§ Clause 28, page 26, line 29, leave out ("cottage gardens exceeding one quarter of an acre")
§ EARL DE LA WARRMy Lords, this is not quite a drafting Amendment. It was inserted to meet a point raised in Committee in another place, that this definition would work unfairly if retained in the Bill. Accordingly, I am moving to leave out these words, which will exclude from rating as agricultural land all cottage gardens whether occupied by a person of the labouring class or not. They will still be rated at only one-third of the annual value. I move that the Commons Amendment be agreed to.
§ Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl De La Warr.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
