HL Deb 25 July 1930 vol 78 cc836-7

Clause 19, page 19, line 16, at end insert: ("(c) in the case of a vehicle which is being used in the course of operations of agriculture or forestry a person shah not be deemed to be driving the vehicle or to be spending time on work in connection with the vehicle or the load carried thereby so long as the vehicle is elsewhere than on a road.")

EARL RUSSELL

My Lords, I beg to move that this be agreed to. The clause as a whole imposes certain limits of time during which people could remain continuously on duty, and the object of these words is that when a vehicle is being used in connection with agriculture and forestry a person shall not be deemed to be driving the vehicle or spending time on work so long as the vehicle stands elsewhere than on the public road.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Russell.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
