HL Deb 25 July 1930 vol 78 c884

Page 65, line 4, at end insert a new subsection: ("(3) Where a parking place is appointed under this section as a station for public service vehicles the local authority may

  1. "(a) with the consent of the Minister do all such things as are necessary to adapt the parking place for use as a station for public service vehicles, and in particular provide and maintain waiting-rooms, ticket offices and lavatories and other similar accommodation in connection therewith and
  2. "(b) make reasonable charges for the use of, or let on hire to any person, any accommodation so provided; and
  3. "(c) make regulations as to the use of any such accommodation")

EARL RUSSELL

My Lords, this extends the provisions of subsection (2) so as to enable a local authority to equip and maintain stations for public service vehicles and to provide waiting rooms, ticket offices, lavatories and so on, and make Charges for their use. This business is now very large in some towns, and in some cases the omnibus people do not provide sufficient premises and perhaps, where there are several companies, it is more desirable that the local authority should provide them, have control of them, and make charges. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Russell.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
