HL Deb 25 July 1930 vol 78 c789
EARL GREY

My Lords, yesterday evening the Benefices (Transfer of Rights of Patronage) Measure, 1930, was brought into your Lordships' House. It will be printed and will be on the Table of your Lordships' House at three o'clock with the Report of the Ecclesiastical Committee. It is a very small Measure designed to do nothing except to secure that there shall be no transfer of rights of patronage without notice.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR)

Order! Order! We cannot discuss this to-day. If the noble Earl wishes merely to give notice to your Lordships' House that he intends to ask leave to push forward the Measure quickly—

EARL GREY

I was only going to say that as the Measure does nothing except provide for giving the parish notice, I hope your Lordships will not think I am doing anything unreasonable if I ask that it be put on the Paper for next Thursday.
