§ EARL BEAUCHAMPMy Lords, I desire to ask the noble and learned Lord the Leader of the House if he can give us any information with regard to business for the next day or two?
§ THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR)My Lords, in reply to the noble Earl I may say I had a letter a short time ago, and I understand a communication has been received by the Clerk of Parliaments stating that it is not convenient for the noble Earl, Lord Birkenhead, to move to-morrow the Motion of which he has given Notice [regarding relations with the Soviet.]. Reasons which I quite understand make it difficult for him to be present. I understand that the noble Earl has asked that his Motion should be put down for February 20. I do not think that will affect the Paper for tomorrow in any other way, but I thought your Lordships ought to know that.
