My Lords, I beg leave to present a Bill to make further provision with respect to the construction of certain references to rateable value in enactments relating to the drainage and protection of land; and to move that it be now read a first time.

My Lords, I may perhaps be allowed to state that the Government would like to take the Second Reading of this Bill on Tuesday next if that meets with the approval of your Lordships. It is proposed to put it on the Paper for Second Reading on that day in the name of my noble friend Earl De La Warr.
