Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Second Report by the Select Committee.

The Committee reported:—

1. MESSENGERS OF THE CLERK OF THE PARLIAMENTS' DEPARTMENT.

The Committee authorised a rise (as from the 1st July, 1929) of £10 a year in the basic salary of head messengers in the Judicial and Committee Offices.

2. SECURITY FUND.

The Committee considered the relation of the House of Lords' Security Fund to the House of Lords' Fee Fund, and authorised the transfer from the Fee Fund to the Security Fund of sums which were required to place the Security Fund on a proper basis.

3. LORD GREAT CHAMBERLAIN'S DEPARTMENT.

The Committee considered an application for a rise of salary from the Resident Superintendent, and authorised an increase on his salary of £50 from the 1st April, 1930, and an annual rise of £10 to a maximum of £400.
