HL Deb 28 March 1928 vol 70 c691

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Duke of Sutherland I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time. The main purpose of the Bill is to correct a drafting error in the Agricultural Rates (Scotland) Act, 1926, which affects to a very considerable extent the amount of the agricultural rates grant payable to the county rating authorities in Scotland. This is the only real point of substance. I hope, therefore, the House will give this Bill a Second Reading forthwith.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Earl of Plymouth.)

On Question, Bill read 2a and committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

Then (Standing Order No. XXXIX having been suspended) House in Committee: Bill reported without amendment: read 3a, and passed.
