HL Deb 14 March 1928 vol 70 cc433-4

Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Commons Message of yesterday.

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF DONOUGHMORE)

My Lords, with reference to the Motion on the Paper regarding the Railway (Road Transport, Scotland) Bills, it really follows exactly on what your Lordships decided last week. The two Bills named in the Notice were originally introduced as Orders under the usual Scottish procedure. They have now become Bills and will, of course, join their fellows and be treated in the same way as your Lordships have already decided with regard to other Bills. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do concur in the following Resolution communicated by the Commons, namely: "That it is expedient that the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (Road Transport, Scotland) Bill and the London and North Eastern Railway (Road Transport, Scotland) Bill be committed to a Joint Committee of Lords and Commons."—(The Earl of Donoughmore.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
