LORD DESBOROUGH moved to add the following new subsection:—
This Act shall come into operation on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and twenty-nine.
§ The noble Lord said: The object of this Amendment is to postpone the commencement of the Act to January 1 next. It is thought unwise and almost unprecedented to make a considerable alteration in the criminal law without giving due notice.
