§ THE EARL OF PLYMOUTHMy Lords, I beg to move.
§ Moved, That the Special Orders which were presented on the 28th of November last, be approved.—(The Earl of Plymouth.)
§ EARL BEAUCHAMPIs it four o'clock?
§ THE EARL OF PLYMOUTHThis is private business.
§ EARL BEAUCHAMPI notice that this Order is on the Paper to be taken at four o'clock.
§ THE EARL OF PLYMOUTHVery well, my Lords, I will not move it at the moment.
At four o'clock:—
§ THE EARL OF PLYMOUTHMy Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name, that the Special Orders which were presented on the 28th November last be approved.
§ EARL BEAUCHAMPI have really no objection to these Orders, but with regard to the Ipswich Order, which stands earlier on the Paper, I think we should have some assurance that Orders are not going to be taken before the hour at which they are set down. It is really 687 not quite fair to the House that Orders should be taken a few minutes before the hour. This particular Order is of no importance, but we must have some assurance that matters of some importance are not going to be treated in the same way as matters of no importance.
§ THE EARL OF PLYMOUTHMy Lords, I need hardly assure the noble Earl that I had no intention of doing anything disrespectful to the House. Now that my attention has been drawn to it I will certainly do what I can to see that the Orders of the House are not contravened in any way.
§ EARL BEAUCHAMPI hope the noble Earl will call the attention of the Leader of the House to the fact that the Standing Orders have been grossly disregarded.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
