HL Deb 18 December 1928 vol 72 c684

LORD OLIVIER had given Notice to call attention to the revocation, by Order in Council made by the Governor of Trinidad on the 30th July last, of the disqualification for nominee membership of the Trinidad Legislative Council of persons holding contracts for the supply of stores to the Government; and to move for Papers.

The noble Lord said: My Lords, since I put this Motion upon the Paper I have had a communication from the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, with whom I had previously had correspondence, and he said that he desired to consult the Governor of Trinidad further upon this matter. As I desired only to raise a question of principle, and not to make any particular application, I desire not to proceed with my Motion now but to put it down again for a day to be named.
