HL Deb 24 November 1927 vol 69 cc229-30

Amendments reported (according to Order).

Schedule [Requirements of Registered Funds.]

The rules of a fund qualified for registration under this Act must make provision for the following matters, that is to say:—

6. The contributions payable to the fund, and the rates of benefit payable there-out.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT CAVE)

My Lords, I have to ask the leave of your Lordships to move a very small Amendment of which I have not given notice. It is based on information which has only just reached me. Your Lordships will remember that in order that a superannuation fund may be registered under this Bill its rules must provide for certain matters which are set out in the Schedule. Among those matters is No. 6—"The contributions payable to the fund and the rates of benefit payable thereout." It has been pointed out to me that "the rates of benefit" is a rather limited expression, and that some rules do not provide for the actual rates of benefit to the pensioners, but give a method of calculating the benefits based sometimes upon the funds standing to a man's account. I want to add to the paragraph words to provide that those cases shall not be excluded and for that purpose I move the Amendment.

Amendment moved— Page 7, line 29, at end insert ("or method of calculating the benefits so payable").—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.
