HL Deb 18 November 1926 vol 65 c682
VISCOUNT HALDANE

My Lords, may I ask the noble Earl opposite if he can give us any information as to the course of business—what is proposed or what is desired?

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH

My Lords, I think I ought to inform your Lordships that it will be necessary to have a sitting on Monday to pass the Consolidated Fund (Appropriation) (No. 2) Bill. The Government are most anxious that it should proceed to the Royal Assent on November 22; that is, on Monday. Therefore I wish to give notice of a Motion to suspend the Standing Orders, so that it will be possible for the Bill to be put through all its stages and receive the Royal Assent on Monday.
