HL Deb 18 May 1926 vol 64 c209
VISCOUNT HALDANE

My Lords, I desire to ask the noble Marquess the Leader of the House whether he is now in a position to make any statement about when the House is to adjourn for the Whitsuntide Recess and when it is to sit again.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, I am much obliged to the noble and learned Viscount for having postponed this question until to-day. I see no reason, if your Lordships consent, why we should not adjourn at the end of the sitting to-morrow. In that case I should suggest to your Lordships we might meet again on June 3. I may take this opportunity of saying that I have put the Midwives and Maternity Homes Bill down for Committee on June 3, but between now and to-morrow it may appear, on consideration, that that is rather too early a date on which to take it. If that be the case I will notify your Lordships of the change of date.
