HL Deb 24 June 1926 vol 64 cc610-2
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT CAVE)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name for the appointment of a Select Committee to inquire into the subject of Peerages in abeyance. The Motion is the same as that which your Lordships passed last year, except that the noble Marquess, Lord Bath, has been added to the Committee. I propose to add to the Motion, as it appears upon the Paper, words empowering the Committee to appoint their own Chairman.

Moved, That a Select Committee of this House be set up, with power to appoint their own Chairman, to inquire into the subject of Peerages in abeyance, and report to the House on the matter, and that the Lords following be named of the Committee—

(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.

House adjourned at a quarter before seven o'clock.
