HL Deb 01 July 1926 vol 64 c714
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, I indicated on Tuesday that I should venture to ask your Lordships to have a formal legislative sitting to-morrow as well as the judicial sitting, in order to give a First Reading to the Coal Mines Bill, in the event of that Bill not reaching us before we adjourn this evening. I think it very unlikely that it will reach us before we adjourn to-day, and should that prove to be the case I suggest to your Lordships that we should meet at half-past ten to-morrow morning merely to read the Bill a first time. We will take the Second Reading on Monday, if your Lordships are willing, according to the suggestion I made on Tuesday.

VISCOUNT HALDANE

Will not that interfere with the judicial sitting?

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

It is arranged specially for the time I have mentioned in order not to interfere with the judicial sitting. The Bill will come up before the judicial sitting.
