§ LORD PARMOORMy Lords, perhaps the noble Earl who leads the House can give us some information as to the course of business.
§ THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE EARL OF BALFOUR)My Lords, as I understand the matter, if we are to wind up the Session as early as we hope to do we shall have to make on some days an exceptional effort. It may be necessary for us to sit after dinner both to-day and to-morrow. Your Lordships will see on the Order Paper all the business which it is proposed to take and I do not feel in a position to prophesy as to how long the necessary discussions will take; but I think we ought on each occasion to fulfil the programme which is on the Paper and if we are unable to do it before dinner I am afraid it will 1289 be necessary for your Lordships to meet after dinner in order to complete the business. On Friday I do not think the business need be very long, but I believe it will be for the general convenience if we meet at 12 o'clock.
