HL Deb 03 December 1926 vol 65 cc1150-1

Clause 1, page 1, line 24, after ("paid") insert ("or payable").

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES (LORD BLEDISLOE)

My Lords, you will remember this little Bill, which has come back to us from another place and which relates to the sale on commission of horticultural produce. Four Amendments have been introduced in another place into the Bill which was initiated in your Lordships' House, and I am asking your Lordships to be good enough to agree to all of them.

I ought, perhaps, to remind your Lordships that Clause 1, which is the important clause of the Bill, provides that a vendor on commission of horticultural produce shall not only keep a register of his consignors and of the prices realised for the produce which he sells, but shall also send to the consignor an account which is to contain a statement of the prices, the vendor's commission and also the disbursements which the commission agent has to make on behalf of the vendor. The Amendment I am asking your Lordships to accept is the insertion of the words "or payable" after the word "paid," and it is intended to cover cases where disbursements, say, to a railway company recur, being always the same, and the vendor meets the disbursements probably after he sends this account to the consignor. It is really nothing more than a drafting amendment and I hope your Lordships will agree with it. I beg to move that the House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Bledisloe.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
