HL Deb 26 May 1925 vol 61 c544
THE CIVIL LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (EARL STANHOPE)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion which stands on the Paper in the name of the noble Earl, Lord Clarendon As your Lordships know, this House joined with the other House in setting up a Committee to go into the two Moneylenders Bills. It then appeared that there was an Order by which the quorum had to be six for every meeting. As there were only three members appointed by each House, your Lordships will realise that every member of the Committee had to be present in order that the Committee could do any business at all. It is now proposed that each House should nominate two extra members, making a total of ten instead of six, so that the quorum of six will be easily attained, and the Committee able to go on with its business. I beg to move that the two noble Lords whose names appear on the Paper be added to Committee.

Moved, That Lord Templemore and Lord Raglan be added to the Joint Committee on the Moneylenders Bill [H.L.] and the Moneylenders (Amendment) Bill.—(Earl Stanhope.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.

Message ordered to be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.

House adjourned at a quarter before six o'clock.
