My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing on the Paper in my name, on the distinct understanding that I only ask your Lordships to take the First and Second Readings of the Bills.

Moved, That in the event of a Message being received from the Commons that they have passed the Safeguarding of industries (Customs Duties) Bill, and the Land Settlement (Facilities) Amendment Bill, Standing Order No. XXXIX be considered in order to its being suspended for this day's sitting for the purpose of passing the said Bills through all their stages.—(The Marquess of Salisbury.)
