HL Deb 16 December 1925 vol 62 cc1556-7
LORD LAMINGTON

My Lords, I beg to ask whether His Majesty's Govern- ment can give information as to the result of Sir Gilbert Clayton's Mission for the delineation of certain frontiers in Arabia. There has been some disappointment that this Report has not hitherto been published. I only desired to know from His Majesty's Government whether it will soon be given to the public, but I see in The Times to-day that Sir Gilbert Clayton is going on a further Mission to the Zaidi Imam Yehia in the Yemen to carry on the work of delimitation in that part of Arabia.

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (THE EARL OF CLARENDON)

My Lords, these two Agreements which Sir Gilbert Clayton has arranged with Ibn Saud, owing to some unfortunate delay in the Palestine mail, did not reach the Colonial Office until Friday last. They are at the moment being considered, and, together with some other correspondence, will very shortly he published in the form of a White Paper. It is hoped that publication will be possible before the House rises for the Recess. It these circumstances I hope that my noble friend will defer further discussion until he has had an opportunity of seeing these Papers,
