HL Deb 05 August 1925 vol 62 cc712-3

Returned from the Commons with certain of the Amendments made by the Lords agreed to, and one Amendment disagreed to, for which the Commons assign a Reason.

LORD EMMOTT

With your Lordships' permission I should like to move that the Commons Reason for disagreeing to one Amendment made by your Lordships be now considered.

Moved, That the Commons Reason be now considered.—(Lord Emmott.)

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, that is a Motion which it is quite possible for the noble Lord to make in reference to a Bill of which he is in charge. It is, of course, not the usual practice, because we generally allow an interval of a few hours, at any rate, to intervene, but I think it is for the convenience of your Lordships to take this Motion at once. The matter is a very small one in which the Commons disagree, with your Lordships, and, if your Lordships in every quarter of the House are willing to take it now, we will do so, otherwise it must be put down for to-morrow.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
