LORD MUIR MACKENZIE

My Lords, I beg now to propose the other Motion relating to a Special Order under the Gas Regulation Act, 1920. This is slightly different from the other Orders, and has been put separately because an Amendment has to be passed which is, in fact, agreed to.

Moved, That the Draft Special Order proposed to be made by the Board of Trade under Section 10 of the Gas Regulation Act, 1920, on the application of the. Eastbourne Gas Company, be approved with the following amendment:

Page 18, after section 49, insert section 49a :

For protection of Eastbourne Corporation.

" 49a. The provisions of section 20 (For protection of Corporation of Eastbourne) of the Act of 1909 shall extend and apply to any works of the Company in the Borough of Eastbourne executed under the powers of section 32 of this Order."—(Lord Muir Mackenzie.)

THE EARL OF DONOUGHMORE

My Lords, I presume my noble friend has satisfied himself, in making the Amendment, that it is in accordance with the Act under which these Orders are made ?

LORD MUIR MACKENZIE

My Lords. I should be going too far if I said I had satisfied myself personally of that, but that is the instruction I have received from the responsible Department.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
