HL Deb 06 March 1924 vol 56 c578
THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR)

My Lords, I beg to move that Standing Order No. XXXIX be considered in order to its being dispensed with for the purpose of taking the remaining stages of the Diseases of Animals Bill, and for the purpose of passing the Consolidated Fund (No. 1) Bill, if received from the Commons, through all its stages. The reason for this Motion is a very simple one. A very large sum is due to farmers in respect of cattle slaughtered. The actual amount of compensation has been fixed, but cheques cannot be paid until the Diseases of Animals Bill is passed, and so I move that the Standing Order be suspended.

Moved accordingly, and, on question, Motion agreed to : Standing Order No. XXXIX suspended accordingly.
