HL Deb 22 January 1924 vol 56 c70
THE MARQUESS CURZON OF KEDLESTON

My Lords, I have to acquaint your Lordships with the fact that in consequence of the vote which was given in another place yesterday evening, the Prime Minister has been to Buckingham Palace and has tendered the resignation of His Majesty's Ministers to the King. I do not know if there is any noble Lord on the Benches opposite who is entitled, or who is desirous, to speak on behalf of those who are likely before long to take our place. If there is, we shall be glad to hear anything he may have to say. If not, it will be my simple duty to propose the adjournment of the House. I understand that it is the desire of the Ministry that is likely to succeed us that that adjournment should last until February 12 in order to enable them to make their arrangements. That being so, and unless any noble Lord has anything to say, the Motion I have to make is that this House do now adjourn until February 12.

Moved accordingly, and on Question, Motion agreed to.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before five o'clock till Tuesday, February 12.
