HL Deb 04 August 1924 vol 59 c271
THE MARQUESS CURZON OF KEDLESTON

My Lords, may I ask a question of the noble and learned Viscount on the Woolsack of which I have given him private notice? A statement has appeared in the newspapers to the effect that it is not unlikely that some announcement may be made in another place to-day by the Prime Minister with regard to the Irish position. My question is, if that report be correct, whether the noble and learned Viscount is in a position to make any corresponding statement in your Lordships' House.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT HALDANE)

My Lords, owing to the state of the negotiations it is not possible to make any statement to-day, and I doubt whether it will be possible to make one to-morrow. I think possibly one may be made on Wednesday morning. I have taken steps to secure that whatever information is given in the other House shall also be given to your Lordships.
