House in Committee accordingly:

[The EARL OF DONUGHMORE in the Chair.]

Clause 1 agreed to.

Clause 2:

Short Title.

2. This Act may be cited as the Arbitration Clauses in Commercial Agreements (Protocol) Act, 1924.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR) moved to leave out "in commercial agreements." The noble Lord said: The object of the Protocol was that arbitration should be applied generally with a power for any particular Government who desired to do so to limit it merely for commercial purposes. It is a drafting mistake that the words were ever introduced.

Amendment moved— Clause 2, page 2, line 14, leave out ("in commercial agreements").—(Lord Parmoor.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Clause 2, as amended, agreed to.
