HL Deb 31 July 1923 vol 54 c1489

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

LORD MUIR MACKENZIE

My Lords, the object of this Bill is to enable the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills to add to the Bill which they now have before them a number of clauses which were brought to their attention but were not comprised in the Bill which was first committed to them. I have ascertained that the Lord Chancellor, who himself brought in the Judicature Bill, thinks that the course which I have taken in the matter is the right one, and I hope your Lordships will confirm that view by allowing this Bill to be read a second time this afternoon, and referred to the Joint Committee.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.— (Lord Muir Mackenzie.)

On Question, Bill read 2a.
