HL Deb 12 July 1923 vol 54 cc1008-9
THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (THE EARL OF ONSLOW)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion which appears on the Paper in regard to this Bill.

Moved, That the Order made on the 26th day of April last, " That no Provisional Order Confirmation Bill brought from the House of Commons shall be read a Second time after Thursday the 14th day of June next," be dispensed with, and that the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Earl of Onslow.)

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES

My Lords, perhaps I ought to say, before I put the Motion, that I understand that this Bill is likely to be opposed in Committee. Of course, the object of the Sessional Order is to safeguard the convenience of the House in these matters. The date is rather late, but I assure my noble friend that I will do my best to see that an Opposed Bill Committee meets before the adjournment, in order to consider the Bill. As I have said, it is getting rather late, and I hope no more Bills will come along.

On Question, Motion agreed to, and Bill read 2a accordingly.
