HL Deb 29 March 1922 vol 49 cc930-1
LORD BUCKMASTER

My Lords, may I ask the noble Marquess, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether he is in a position to give this House any information as to recent events that have transpired in Paris?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (THE MARQUESS CURZON OF KEDLESTON)

My Lords, in accordance with a Notice that has appeared in the public Press, I had contemplated making to-day, in your Lordships' House, a statement about the proceedings of the Conference in Paris, from which I have just returned, but I think, for various reasons, that I shall be in rather a better position to do so to-morrow than I am to-day. Therefore, with the permission of the House, I will postpone my statement, only saying that, if the noble and learned Lord is good enough to repeat his Question to-morrow, I shall be in a position to answer.

LORD BUCKMASTER

I am muck obliged to the noble Marquess.

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

May I ask the noble Marquess when the Paper which gives the findings of the Cannes Conference, which is to be the foundation of the Genoa Conference, will be in the hands of noble Lords?

THE MARQUESS CURZON OF KEDLESTON

The Question was mentioned at a meeting of His Majesty's Ministers yesterday, and, of course, it is desirable that the Paper should be in the hands of noble Lords and of members of the other House of Parliament at once. My impression from what passed was that the Paper is already in print and only awaits the ordinary process of distribution to be in the hands of noble Lords.
