HL Deb 03 July 1922 vol 51 c159
LORD STRACHIE

My Lords, I have given private notice to the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of my intention to ask what steps the Ministry are going to take or are taking to see that those farmers in the four counties of Devonshire, Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset who have had twopence per gallon illegally deducted from the price of their milk are compensated, the House of Lords having decided upon appeal last Thursday that the Government's Food Controller had no power to impose such a charge.

THE EARL OF ANCASTER

In answer to the Question I can only say that the decision of the House of Lords was given so recently as Thursday last, and at present the matter is under consideration by the Government.

LORD STRACHIE

I thank the noble Earl for his reply, and give notice that on Monday next I will draw attention to the matter and move a Resolution.
