HL Deb 05 December 1922 vol 52 c261
LORD BUCKMASTER

My Lords, I do not know whether the noble Marquess can give the House any information about the period for which it is proposed that the House should sit, and what business it has to undertake.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, during the present week, so far as I am aware, there may be some very small matters, but there is no Government business. There are certain Orders standing in the name of independent Peers, but so far as the Government is concerned, I do not think that in the present week there is any Government business, nothing at any rate which is more than purely formal. But next week, there is a Bill which has to be passed, if your Lordships are willing, in reference to the removal of the cattle embargo, of which, no doubt, the noble and learned Lord is aware, and I think there is another Bill in connection with unemployment, to prolong an existing Act for a further period. Beyond that, I do not know of any Bill of any interest. If the noble and learned Lord asks a question upon a point about which it is always of interest to be informed—when the Prorogation is likely to be—I do not think that anything is absolutely fixed, but the latest information was that it would be on the 14th.

LORD BUCKMASTER

I am much obliged to the noble, Marquess.
