LORD RAGLANMy Lords, I beg to ask His Majesty's Government what salaries or other emoluments are now being paid to King Feisal and the Emir Abdullah.
§ LORD STANMOREMy Lords, the Civil List provided for King Feisal in the Tray Budget amounts to twelve lakhs of rupees, rather less titan £80,000 per annum. This sum covers the expenses of the Court at Baghdad, the King's personal staff and the maintenance of the royal palace, and is a charge on Iraq Revenues. The Emir Abdullah receives no fixed civil list, but the revenues of Trans-Jordania, which are assisted by an Imperial grant-in-aid, furnish monthly payments averaging not more than £1,500 for his personal expenses.
