HL Deb 06 July 1921 vol 45 cc983-4

Amendments reported (according to Order).

Clause 7:

Provisions as to London.

7—(1) The provisions of paragraphs (b) and (c) of subsection (2) of section one hundred and eight of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891 (which relate to the removal and appointment of medical officers of health of metropolitan borough councils), shall apply to the chief or senior sanitary inspectors of metropolitan borough councils and to the medical officers of health and the chief or senior sanitary inspectors of the port sanitary authority of the Port of London as they apply to the medical officers of health of metropolitan borough councils, and those provisions shall have effect accordingly.

(2) Save as provided by this section this Act shall not apply to the administrative county of London.

LORD GAINFORD moved to omit "inspectors", where that word secondly occurs, and substitute "inspector". The noble Lord said: My Lords, this Amendment is a very small one.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

Is it on the Paper?

LORD GAINFORD

No, it is not on the Paper. Is that necessary?

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

No, it is not necessary.

LORD GAINFORD

It was pointed out to me that there can be only one chief or senior inspector of the port sanitary authority of the Port of London, and the word ought therefore to be in the singular instead of in the plural.

Amendment moved— Page 3, line 20, leave out (. inspectors ") and insert (" inspector ")—(Lord Gainford)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.
