Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD BIRKENHEAD)

My Lords, it has been represented to me by more than one noble Lord who is anxious to take part in this debate, that at this time, and after the long discussion that has taken place on the Matrimonial Causes Bill, it would be more convenient if this Bill were not taken tonight. As your Lordships know, I am always anxious to meet such suggestions if I can, and as there is no particular reason why this Bill should be taken to-night, I propose to put it on the Paper at some early date.
