§ LORD NEWTONMy Lords, I rise to ask whether the High Commissioner, Sir Herbert Samuel, has taken any action with regard to the German and Austrian civilians formerly resident in Palestine and subsequently interned in Egypt.
THE EARL OF CRAWFORDMy Lords, instructions were issued to Sir Herbert Samuel on July 7 that the persons referred to should be informed that they are free to return either to Palestine or to Germany, with the exception of individuals who are on the list of undesirables.
