Clause 8, page 15, line 25, leave out ("twenty-eight days") and insert ("six weeks").

The Commons disagree with this Amendment for the following Reason:

Because the period of twenty-eight days affords a sufficient time for the furnishing of the particulars by the landlord. not greater than seven years, and in the terms of that tenancy the owner-occupier must have specifically stated his or her intention to resume possession, and the farmer taking the land knew perfectly well the conditions under which he was taking it, and would make his bargain accordingly. If this provision stands as the other House have left it, or as the clause would be if it were cut out altogether, you will in my opinion be inflicting a cruel injustice in many cases upon the most valuable class farming the land in this country. I hope your Lordships will not agree to the Commons Amendment.
